Alongside the official U.S. recession announcement were some glimmers of hope in the form of a downward trend in new coronavirus cases and a decrease in the unemployment rate. While there are caveats to both, including 21 states with increasing cases and skewed data from unemployment surveys, the week still delivered optimism.
